Newcastle and the American Revolution

The involvement of the Fifth Northumberland Fusiliers, Hugh, heir to the Duke of Northumberland, the First Earl Grey, in the War. The short history attempts to show that General and Admiral Howe did not seek to win a shooting war – which they thought in the long term was impossible - but rather tried to bring the Americans to the negotiating table.
